ImmenStar, Inc. was founded in 2004 to create a revolutionary new form of passive optical networks System-on-Chip (SoC) technology, enabling delivery of voice, video, and data. ImmenStar subsequently developed the innovative MuLan EPON Switch Chipset in May 2006. ImmenStar has demonstrated commercially deployed (SoC) in major service provider networks.

In February 2007, ImmenStar was acquired by Cortina Systems.
